ABOUT GABI

Gabi Connole picked up her first film camera as a young girl, taught by her mum Elizabeth while exploring the Australian desert. These moments set the course for everything since.

Her practice explores girlhood, community and ancestry through remote landscapes that hold personal significance to her. She trained in analogue photography at HAW Hamburg Faculty of Design in Germany before completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNSW Art and Design, Sydney, and later a Master of Arts at Chelsea College of Art, London, on an international postgraduate scholarship. While assisting fashion photographer Rankin in his London studios, she developed a skies the limit mentality. Her work has since featured in Vanity Fair France, Elle France, Le Monde Magazine, the ABC and others.

Having grown up in regional Australia herself, Gabi knows how far a rural girl's voice can travel when she's encouraged toward authentic expression. There is nothing she finds more meaningful than giving rural girls room to express their unique selves, and it's precisely why Girls Have Stamina exists!
